My Top 5 Albums & EPs of 2021

My Top 5 Albums & EPs of 2021

Yesterday, I uploaded My Top Ten Songs of 2021 from my Spotify Wrapped. So I thought, I’ve done songs, why not share my favourite albums!

This year we’ve been spoilt with the amount of incredible albums released, from some major artists. We’ve had Adele, Ed Sheeran, ABBA, JLS, Little Mix, and that’s just naming a few.

Just as an FYI, unlike my top songs post, these aren’t from my Spotify Wrapped, these are albums picked by me, that I’ve been obsessed with throughout the year…

5. Billie Eilish – Happier Than Ever

One of the most anticipated albums of the year. After Billie posted an Instagram post with the caption ’Happier Than Ever’, rumours started flying around, and soon after the announcement was released. This record is a much more personal one, covering a lot of taboo topics in society, and ones that Billie has faced herself. It definitely explores a more mature sound, but still has that recognisable Billie Eilish stamp to it, all thanks to her brother Finneas, who is an incredible producer. I feel like this record was a real turning point for Billie, and I cannot wait to see where she goes with her music in the future.

4. Becky Hill – Only Honest On The Weekend

10 years in the making, and we’re finally here. Becky Hill’s debut album was one I was SO excited for when she announced it back in July, and she did not disappoint. After reaching the semi-finals of the first series of The Voice UK back in 2012, she became the first contestant from the show to reach number one on the official charts, and has since gone from strength to strength over the past decade. She’s collaborated with major artists such as Sigala, MEDUZA, and recently had her highest charting single as a lead artist with her collab with David Guetta, ’Remember’. This album had to feature in my top five, as it features banger after banger, and if you haven’t listened to any of Becky’s songs yet, what are you waiting for?

3. Rita Ora & Imanbek – Bang EP

If you’ve read my top 10 songs post, you would’ve seen that 3 out of the 4 songs on Rita Ora’s EP featured in there, that is how much I’ve loved this project this year. She’s teamed up with producer Imanbek for this dance/electronic record, and it’s pretty epic to be honest. If you’re looking for a pure dance record, I’d highly recommend giving this a go, I promise you won’t regret it.

2. Little Mix – Between Us

2021 marked Little Mix’s tenth anniversary. 10 whole years of being together as a group, that is unheard of in the music industry. I’ve been here since the VERY beginning. I remember watching them on The X Factor back in 2011, I still even have their winner’s single as a physical CD. In celebration of their tenth anniversary, they’ve released ‘Between Us’, which is a collection of their greatest hits over the years, plus five brand new songs. This will be their last album for a while, as they’ve announced they’re going on hiatus after their confetti tour next April/May, but as they’ve said, Little Mix won’t end, and they’ll always get back together. It’s definitely sad, but they deserve this break, and I’ll look forward for what they have coming in the future.

Top Album: Anne-Marie – Therapy

It was a tough choice between Little Mix and Anne-Marie for my top album spot, but this one just pipped them at the post. Anne-Marie’s second album ’Therapy’ is a real journey of growth and emotion, it’s pretty much like actual therapy. Since this record was released back in July, I’ve constantly gone back to it time and time again, and is one of them rare albums that I can listen to from start to finish without skipping a single song. It features incredible lyrics, a mix of bangers and more emotional tracks, which is a nice balance in my opinion. The collaborations of this record are also insane, with the likes of KSI, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Rudimental and many more. This album is a real highlight of 2021, and one I’ll be listening to for a long time.

This will be my last post of 2021, so I hope you all have a happy and safe new year, and I’ll see you all in 2022!
